چکیده

We describe a transmission technology approach that is suited for application to high-speed asynchronous multiuser wireless channels, i.e., reverse WLAN/cellular links. The scheme is based on concatenated multitone modulation and multiplexing. The design parameters are flexible and are chosen to cope with the users' time and frequency offsets, as well as with the timefrequency channel selectivity. Frequency hopping, and DS spreading can also be included for improved diversity and interference averaging benefits. The principles of this modulation and multiplexing approach are illustrated for an asynchronous reverse link over a 3.84 MHz channel. The key aspect of the proposed asynchronous multitone (AMT) air-interface is its intrinsic robustness to multiple access interference, and channel time-frequency selectivity. We emphasize that the approach is applicable to other contexts with wider bandwidths as those available in 802.11a, Hiperlan II, and those that will become available in future 4G cellular systems.

Multiuser Detection and Turbo Multiuser Decoding for Asynchronous Multitone Multiple Access Systems

We consider multicarrier multiple access architectures that are based on combining discrete multitone (DMT) or filtered multitone (FMT) modulation with multiplexing of tones across users. Communications are asynchronous, e.g., uplink cellular communications. Optimum multiuser detection is formulated for demodulation of multitone signals that experience time and frequency asynchronism and propag...

Microsoft Word - ISWCS_2.rtf

In this paper we analyze a recently proposed concatenated multitone system for application in the asynchronous multiple access channel (wireless uplink). We study the robustness of the scheme to the users’ time offsets, carrier frequency offsets, and channel time/frequency selectivity. A comparison with multiuser OFDM and MC-CDMA is reported which shows that increased robustness and better perf...

Multiuser Detection/Decoding in Asynchronous Multitone Multiple Access Systems

We devise the optimal detection scheme in multiuser multicarrier based systems. We focus on the critical uplink scenario where several multicarrier signals belonging to distinct users propagate through independent time-variant frequency selective fading channels, and experience independent time offsets and carrier frequency offsets. We consider an efficient discrete-time system implementation a...

Channel Estimation And Multiuser Detection In Asynchronous Satellite Communications

In this paper, we propose a new method of channel estimation for asynchronous additive white Gaussian noise channels in satellite communications. This method is based on signals correlation and multiuser interference cancellation which adopts a successive structure. Propagation delays and signals amplitudes are jointly estimated in order to be used for data detection at the receiver. As, a mult...

Maximum SINR Synchronization Strategies in Multiuser Filter Bank Schemes

We consider synchronization in a multiuser filter bank uplink system with single-user detection. Perfect user synchronization is not the optimal choice as the intuition would suggest. Tomaximize performance the synchronization parameters have to be chosen to maximize the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) at each equalizer subchannel output. However, the resulting filter bank receiv...
